How Overlap works

Overlap · Free world clock & meeting planner

Find a time across cities without changing your laptop’s time zone.

Scheduling with someone in another time zone should not mean changing your computer’s clock or calculating dates in your head. Overlap is a free time zone meeting planner: compare cities and working hours, see your calendar events, and share availability in the other person’s local time. No account needed.

Open the planner

See the same moment everywhere

Compare Seoul, San Francisco, New York, London, and other cities. Dates, overnight differences, and daylight saving changes follow the day you select.

Bring your calendar into view

Connect Google Calendar or an iCloud feed, or import an .ics file. See read-only events beside local work hours while you choose a time.

Share times people can use

Click or drag to save availability. Choose a city under Saved times, then copy the dates and time ranges in that city’s time zone.

How to find a meeting time across time zones

  1. Add the cities you’re coordinating with. Overlap starts with a home clock based on your browser’s time zone. Select a city’s name to show the calendar in its time zone.
  2. Compare work hours and calendar events. Set each city’s work days and hours. Connect a calendar if you want to see existing events; calendar connections are optional.
  3. Save and share your availability. Click for a 30-minute slot or drag for a longer range. Pick a time zone under Saved times, then select Copy times.

Share availability across time zones

Schedule an interview in the recruiter’s time zone

Add your city and the recruiter’s city, then choose the interview week. Check your existing calendar and save a few available time ranges. Under Saved times, choose the recruiter’s city before copying. Your message will contain dates and times in their local time, while your laptop stays on your own time zone. Include the city or time zone in your message so there is no ambiguity.

Find overlapping working hours for a remote team

Add each team location and set its working days and hours. Compare those hours on the date you want to meet, then check connected calendars for conflicts. If there is no shared workday window, discuss an earlier or later slot with the team. Overlap helps you compare the options visually; it does not automatically choose a time or check everyone’s calendars.

Find a meeting time between Seoul and San Francisco

Start by checking the date as well as the hour. A late-afternoon meeting in San Francisco can be the following morning in Seoul, so the two people may need to reserve different calendar dates.

The same moment in both cities: two dated examples

Dec 8, 2026 · 4:00 PM PSTDec 9, 2026 · 9:00 AM KST

These examples show why a fixed time difference is not enough: San Francisco’s seasonal clock change affects the conversion. In Overlap, add both cities, navigate to your meeting date, and select a city’s name to view the calendar in its local time. Save a suitable range, then copy it in the recipient’s time zone.

The same approach works for other city pairs, including London and New York. For recurring meetings, check dates on both sides of a daylight saving change before assuming the local hour will stay the same.

Questions about Overlap

Do I need to change my laptop’s time zone?

No. Overlap converts times inside the page. Your device clock and system time zone stay the same when you switch the calendar’s city.

Is Overlap free? Do I need an account?

Overlap is free to use and does not require an account. Open it in a modern browser with JavaScript enabled.

Can I connect Google Calendar or Apple Calendar?

Yes. Use a Google Calendar iCal feed link, a public iCloud calendar link, or an exported .ics file. Events are read-only: Overlap does not book meetings or edit your original calendar.

Do connected calendars update automatically?

Google and iCloud feeds can refresh every five minutes while Overlap is open and visible. Use My calendars → Update now for an immediate refresh, or turn automatic updates off. File imports are snapshots; use Update to choose a fresh .ics export.

Does Overlap account for daylight saving time?

Yes. Named time zones and the selected date determine each city’s local time. Saved availability keeps the same actual moment when you change the calendar’s display city.

Where are my calendars and saved times stored?

They are saved in this browser, with no account or cross-device sync. Files are parsed locally. Connected feed links go to Overlap’s server to fetch events; the server does not store your calendar. Clearing site data removes your local information.

Can I import a large calendar export?

Imports keep the current month and future events. Files and feeds up to 50 MB can be read; after older history is removed, the retained calendar must fit within 2 MB. Recurring series keep the rules and exceptions needed for future events.

Will copied times use the other person’s time zone?

Choose their city from the Time zone menu under Saved times. Copy times then formats your saved dates and ranges for that city, independently of the calendar’s display time zone.

Should I use a city or a fixed UTC offset to plan a meeting?

Use a city and the actual meeting date. A fixed UTC offset describes a time difference, but does not follow a city’s seasonal clock changes. Overlap uses named time zones to convert each date.

Does sharing availability create a meeting invitation?

No. Copy times gives you text to paste into a message. After everyone agrees on a slot, create the invitation in your calendar and check the date and time zone there.

Optional analytics

When analytics is enabled on this site, you can choose whether to allow Google Analytics to measure visits and general actions such as adding a city, saving availability, connecting a calendar, or copying times. Google’s analytics script loads only after you allow it.

Our analytics events do not include calendar names, event titles, feed links, selected dates or times, copied text, or form values. Page URLs are sent without query strings or fragments, and referral links are reduced to their website origin. Google may also process standard browser, device, and network information as part of Analytics.

You can decline or change your choice through Analytics preferences in the planner footer. Declining keeps the planner available. Withdrawing consent clears this site’s analytics cookies and reloads the page to stop the analytics script. See Google’s privacy policy for information about Google’s processing.
